Cyber Chip

Today kids are spending more time than ever on the Internet for research, socializing, and fun. To help scouts, leaders, families and volunteers stay safe while online, the Boy Scouts of America established the Cyber Chip.  This is a certificate that shows that you have taken the time to learn how to stay safe on the internet and how to protect yourself and others on the internet. It includes topics on CyberBullying, Internet Etiquette, proper Cell Phone usage, and gaming.  The BSA requires scouts to have their Cyber Chip to get various merit badges and rank advancements because without this, scouts are may not know how to protect themselves from people on the internet. As the world develops new technology, we need to be trained the different ways to stay safe using the technology.
